The Columbia Township Board of Appeals consists of three members appointed by the Township Board. The first member is a member of the Township Board. The second member shall be a member of the Planning Commission. The remaining member shall be an elector who is not an employee or contractor of the Township. Each member shall be appointed for a three year term, except that the term of office of the members who are also members of the Township Board or Planning Commission shall terminate if their membership on the Township Board or Planning Commission terminates before the end of the three year term. The Township Board may also appoint one or two alternate members to three year terms to serve whenever a regular member is unable to participate.
An appeal may be taken to the Zoning Board of Appeals by any person wishing to appeal for a variance from any ordinance provision or appeal any final decision of the Zoning Administrator or the Planning Commission. The Zoning Board of Appeals shall also interpret the zoning map and rule on non-conforming uses and structures whenever the determination of the Zoning Administrator is appealed. All appeals must be applied for in writing on forms provided by the Township.
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall have the authority to grant only non-use variances. Non-use variances may be granted whenever there can be shown to be practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships imposed in carrying out the strict letter of the Ordinance.

LIBRARY DIRECTOR POSITON
The Columbia Township Board of Trustees is seeking candidates for the position of Library Director of the Columbia Township Library.
The Director is responsible for the facilities, financial management and personnel of the Library. This position is part-time (20+ hours per week with flexibility) and directly accountable to the Board.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or substantial experience required
A Master’s Degree in Library Science is preferred
Management and supervisory experience
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of computers and library technology
Experience with fiscal management and reporting

The Columbia Township Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed township budget for fiscal year 2023-24 on Tuesday, March 21 at 8:30 a.m at the Columbia Township Library Community Room 6456 Center St., Unionville. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing. A copy of the budget is available for public inspection by contacting the office of the township clerk.
